Now that your application for eXp has been accepted, it is time to transfer your license from your current brokerage to eXp.
First, give written notice to your broker that you are leaving the brokerage. ONLY do this once you have been approved by eXp Realty and communicated with the eXp Managing Broker for your area!
Next, your provincial eXp Managing Broker will send the necessary paperwork to your local Board to have your license transferred over.
You need to have done these things before you can write any contracts.
If you have listings with another broker, get those transferred to eXp as well. Your provincial broker will provide you with a Listing Transfer form. Or, he/she might have another suggestion on how to handle it. In some cases, you must sign new listing contracts under your new brokerage.
Any Pending (currently under contract or waiting to close) transactions with your previous broker will stay with that broker. You will still communicate with the old brokerage for conveyancing and commission payout.
You’re existing listings (if any) will need to be Terminated and re-listed under eXp. The conversation you have with your clients is that you’re making a brokerage change (to an amazing tech-based brokerage with over 17,000 agents!) so we need new listing contracts signed. Your client will get a refreshed “days on market” because of this change. Once you have new listing contracts signed you will need to input those listings in Skyslope for your managing broker review.
Remember – although changing brokerages may seem like a big change to you, it is not uncommon for agents to change brokerages, and brokerage offices deal with this often.
