On-boarding is the process of applying for and joining eXp Realty – whether as a new agent or as an existing agent transferring from another brokerage. Here, we’ve broken it down into Seven Steps for your convenience.
Step 1: Submit an Application
Did you apply at join.exprealty.com or your sponsor’s joining link? If so, you would have received a confirmation page and email. This means eXp has successfully received your application.
Canadian Note: When completing an official “join exp” from a provided link, ensure you are completing one that was sent to you from the country you are applying for as the forms are distinct to their respective countries. For example, if you are applying for eXp in Alberta, do not complete a link provided by a US agent (although you can still use your US sponsor in the application).
Step 2: eXp Broker Approval
After your license has been verified, the Managing Broker will review and approve your application. The Managing (Provincial) Broker is required to “approve” your application in order for Onboarding Services to proceed.
Step 3: Complete Joining Documents
As soon as the Broker’s approval has been completed, Onboarding Services will send you your Joining Documents; Independent Contractor Agreement (ICA), Policies & Procedures, and any other provincial-specific documents. Your documents will arrive via email at the email address provided on your application. Your completed documents will be forwarded to Onboarding Services for processing.
Note: This sometimes ends up in a spam folder.
Step 4: Transfer License & Listings
Once the completed joining documents are received, your license transfer will be initiated. The Provincial Broker will watch for the successful transfer of your real estate license. Once confirmed, Onboarding and Tech services will proceed with the final steps of the onboarding process.
Please reach out to the Provincial Broker for an estimate regarding the time frame for the transfer of your license as this will vary from province to province. New applications typically take longer to process.
Step 5: Activate Your eXp Email
Once your license has been transferred, an important email will be sent to you. The subject will look like this:
Subject: Activate Your eXp Realty Email Address
You will be required to verify your email address by clicking on the link provided in the email. Onboarding Services is unable to do this for you and cannot move the process forward until this step has been completed.
STEP 6: Activate Your eXp Passport
Once your email address has been verified, Onboarding will convert you to active status with eXp Realty. At that time an automated email will be sent to you, containing your eXp Passport login details. Your Passport login will provide a ‘single-sign-on’ functionality allowing you to access your suite of eXp agent tools, including Enterprise. Please activate your eXp Passport as soon as possible, as the link has an expiry date. Once activated, log on to https://exprealty.okta.com – and bookmark this page. It is recommended that you access your eXp Apps through this portal.
STEP 7: Attend eXp Orientation & Explore eXp Realty
● eXp Agent Orientation takes place Tuesdays 8-9 & Thursdays 12-1 (PST) in eXp World, in the Main Auditorium.
● Access eXp Explore at https://explore.exprealty.com/ . We urge you to investigate this resource thoroughly!
We look forward to seeing you in eXp World and welcoming you at Canadian Operations!
***If you have not completed 3 transactions before joining eXp, you may be assigned a mentor for your first 3 transactions with eXp. Your mentor will coach you on submitting an offer, writing a listing agreement, etc. Your commission split for these first 3 transactions with the assistance of your mentor is 70/30 (instead of 80/20) as 10% goes to your Mentor.

If you are a brand new agent and are not a member of a board, please understand that you must join your local board.
